Kolkata, May 21 (). Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the 65th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Wednesday. KKR kept themselves in the race for the playoffs with a 4-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Eden Gardens Stadium.
Mumbai Indians, who came to bat after losing the toss in the match, could score 147 runs after losing 8 wickets. This team had lost 4 wickets till the score of 41. When 8 overs of the innings were completed, rain intervened, but despite the break the overs were not cut short.
Captain Hardik Pandya tried to hold the team together with Tilak Verma by making a partnership of 43 runs in 49 balls for the fifth wicket. Tilak Verma was out after scoring 20 runs, while Pandya contributed 26 runs to the team’s account.
Corbin Bosch along with Deepak Chahar made a partnership of 42 runs in 20 balls for the eighth wicket, taking the team to a challenging score. Bosch remained unbeaten on 32 runs in 18 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours. From the opposition camp, Saurabh Dubey, Cameron Green and Karthik Tyagi took 2 wickets each, while Sunil Narine took 1 wicket.
In response, KKR won the match in 18.5 overs. This team lost the wicket of Finn Allen (8) in the very first over. From here captain Ajinkya Rahane made a partnership of 38 runs in 28 balls with Manish Pandey.
Rahane was out after scoring 21 runs in 17 balls with 4 fours. After some time, Cameron Green (4) also returned to the pavilion. The team had lost 3 wickets till the score of 54 in 7.1 overs. From here, Rovman Powell made a partnership of 64 runs with Manish Pandey for the fourth wicket and took the team to the threshold of victory.
Manish returned to the pavilion after scoring 45 runs in 33 balls with 6 fours. From here the team needed 30 runs in 30 balls to win. Powell was caught out on the second ball of the 16th over. He scored 40 runs in this innings with 2 sixes and 4 fours.
In the last overs, Rinku Singh (9) and Anukul Roy (4) played unbeaten innings and led the team to victory with 7 balls remaining. Corbin Bosch took maximum 3 wickets from the opposition camp. Deepak Chahar, Ghazanfar and Jasprit Bumrah took 1 wicket each.
