New Delhi, May 22 (IANS). Only a few days are left for World Yoga Day. In such a situation, the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India, while emphasizing on improving physical and mental health through Yogasana, is continuously giving information about new Yogasanas and also making them aware about the benefits they provide. The ministry gave information about effective yogasanas that help in getting rid of depression.
Yoga experts say that yoga not only keeps the body healthy, but is also very effective in calming the mind, reducing stress and creating emotional balance. Nowadays, due to busy life, work pressure and personal problems, depression has become a common problem. In such a situation, regular yoga practice has become very important.
The message of the Ministry of AYUSH is “Yoga yukt, disease free”. The ministry appeals to citizens to practice these asanas every morning. Starting with 15-20 minutes initially the time can be increased gradually. Yoga not only helps in fighting depression but also improves health.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, regular yoga practice reduces stress hormones, stabilizes the mind and can help in relieving mental problems like depression. Yogasanas and pranayams that relieve depression include meditation, Bhramari Pranayam as well as Tadasana, Bhujangasana, Anulom-Vilom.
Meditation:- Meditating for 10-15 minutes daily reduces mental confusion and gives inner peace.
Pawanmuktasana:- This asana removes stomach problems as well as mental disturbance. This releases the negative energy accumulated in the body.
Bhramari Pranayam:- Doing this pranayam calms the mind. Breathing while making sounds like a bumblebee reduces stress and anxiety.
Tadasana:- This asana done while standing energizes both the body and mind. Helps improve posture and confidence.
Bhujangasana:- This snake pose asana strengthens the spine and is helpful in reducing chest stiffness. This reduces the negative emotions associated with depression.
Anulom-Vilom Pranayam: – This pranayam of inhaling through one nostril and exhaling through the other balances both the parts of the brain and keeps the mind calm.
