Amid rising inflation across the country, the general public has suffered another major shock. The prices of petrol, diesel and CNG have been increased once again. The price of petrol in the capital Delhi has increased by 87 paise per liter, after which its new price has reached Rs 99.51 per liter. Whereas the price of diesel has increased by 91 paise per liter and now consumers will have to pay Rs 92.49 per liter for diesel.
The continuous increase in fuel prices by oil companies is directly impacting the pockets of the common man. Especially the problems of those people who depend on private vehicles for daily travel have increased. Due to increase in cost of petrol and diesel, there is a possibility of increase in transportation cost, the impact of which can also be seen on the prices of food items and other essential commodities in the coming days.
Not only petrol and diesel, but CNG consumers have also not got relief. CNG prices have been increased by Rs 1 per kg in Delhi-NCR. After the new change, CNG will now be available in the capital at the rate of Rs 81.09 per kg. The continuously increasing prices have increased the concern of auto drivers, taxi drivers and millions of people using CNG vehicles.
The biggest thing is that this is the third increase in CNG prices in the last 10 days. Earlier on May 15, the price of CNG was increased by Rs 2 per kg. After this, on May 18, the price was again increased by Re 1 per kg and now once again it has been increased by Re 1. It is clear from the continuous increase that fuel prices may increase further in the coming days.
Experts believe that fluctuations in crude oil prices in the international market and weakness of the rupee against the dollar are affecting domestic fuel prices. At the same time, opposition parties have accused the government of failing to control inflation. The opposition says that the continuously increasing fuel prices are seriously affecting the economic condition of the common man.
On the other hand, the general public says that amidst the already rising inflation, the continuous increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and CNG has spoiled the domestic budget. Many people have demanded the government to provide tax relief and control prices. At present, rising fuel prices have created an atmosphere of concern across the country and people’s eyes are now fixed on the next decision of the government and oil companies.
