Meta no longer wants to rely solely on advertising revenue. The company believes that some people are willing to pay money for additional features and tools. Keeping this in mind, the company has launched paid subscriptions for its social media platforms – Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. These services were in testing for the last few days, and now the company has started rolling them out officially. Today, we’ll learn about the features included in Instagram’s subscription plan – Instagram Plus – and find out how much it costs.
What is available in Instagram Plus?
Instagram Plus is especially beneficial for people who frequently post Stories and want more control over them. By subscribing to this plan, users will be able to see exactly how many people have re-viewed their Instagram Stories. In addition to their “Close Friends” list, they’ll also have the option to create custom audience lists and keep their Stories live longer than the typical 24 hours. Additionally, subscribers will have the opportunity to “spotlight” a Story each week, increasing its visibility. Other features in this plan include the option to search for Stories in the viewer list, watch Stories anonymously (without appearing in the viewer list), and post content directly to someone’s profile (without appearing in followers’ feeds).
Customization options included
Apart from the features mentioned above, Instagram Plus also offers many tools for customization. Paid subscribers will be able to customize their app icons. They’ll also get access to animated “Super Heart” reactions and can use more profile Pins. So, apart from the customization tools and Story related options, this plan doesn’t offer users much in the way of additional features. However, the company has said that more exciting features can be added to this plan in the future. On the other hand, reports about “Facebook Plus” suggest that it will also have features similar to Instagram Plus.
How much does Instagram Plus cost?
Meta has set the same price for both Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus. Both subscription plans are priced at $3.99 (approximately ₹380) per month. However, pricing for India has not been announced yet. It is worth noting that even after the introduction of paid subscriptions, the core functions of these apps – such as posting, messaging and scrolling – will remain free as before.
