Dehradun, June 21 (IANS). On the occasion of International Yoga Day, large scale yoga programs were organized in various districts of Uttarakhand on Sunday. Public representatives, administrative officials, yoga instructors and common citizens enthusiastically participated in these events. All the speakers described Yoga as the basis of a healthy and balanced life and called for including it in the daily routine.
Yoga instructor Trupti Sharma in Ramnagar gave the message of making people aware about yoga through her ‘Yoga Roots’ studio. Trupti Sharma, a fashion designer turned leading personality in the yoga and wellness sector, said, “The event organized on the occasion of International Yoga Day aims to increase health awareness among the local people.” While wishing Yoga Day to Ramnagar, Uttarakhand and the countrymen, he said that Yoga is not just an exercise but an important part of a healthy lifestyle.
Meena Garg, a resident of Ramnagar, who participated in the program, said that she has been doing yoga regularly for the last one year and she has got a lot of benefit from it. He said that every person should include yoga in his daily routine, because it improves both physical and mental health.
A grand celebration of International Yoga Day was also organized in the City Forest Park of the capital Dehradun. Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari said, “Under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga Day has gained global recognition. People from different parts of the city participated in the yoga program with families. In today’s busy lifestyle, it is becoming difficult to spend quality time with the family, but yoga is becoming a medium to connect people together.” He appealed to the citizens to make yoga their daily habit.
In the district level yoga program organized in Pauri Garhwal, Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat described yoga as an invaluable cultural heritage of India. “Yoga is an effective means of promoting health and well-being,” he said. MLA Rajkumar Pori, District Magistrate Swati S. participated in the program. Bhadauria and District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Dr. Shailendra Pandey also highlighted the importance of yoga and urged people to do yoga regularly.
AYUSH Minister Madan Kaushik, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit and other officials participated in the Yoga Day program organized at Rishikul Ground, Haridwar. Mayur Dixit said, “Yoga is very important not only for physical health but also for mental health.”
Meanwhile, AYUSH Minister Madan Kaushik said, “Today India is leading the entire world in the field of yoga, which is a matter of pride for the country.” Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s message, he said that Yoga is not a one-day program but a daily practice, which should be made an integral part of life.
