Bhopal, June 27 (IANS). Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has sparked a political debate with his remarks on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He said that although the organization has expanded significantly after BJP came to power, the shortage of ‘good humans’ among its members is increasing.
These words of the BJP leader have come at a time when Congress has intensified attacks on RSS and BJP over alleged financial irregularities related to Ram Temple and has raised questions on the transparency and accountability of the organization.
Speaking at an event in Bhopal on Friday, Vijayvargiya said that after BJP formed the government, many government officials now claim to be associated with the RSS for a long time.
Vijayvargiya said, “Every officer who joins our government says, ‘I too am wearing the belt and shorts of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.’ After the government came to power, everyone joined the Sangh. One officer told me that his father used to go to RSS shakhas, while another said that his father was the president of a shakha, even though there is no such post.”
He said that the rapid expansion of the organization should not come at the expense of its core values and character.
He said, “Today there are all kinds of crowds, yet there is a shortage of good humans among them. This is the truth. The organization is growing and the ideology is also spreading. But if there are no good humans, then what is the importance of this ideology? We need to think deeply on this.”
Recalling some of the prominent senior RSS workers present at the event, Vijayvargiya described them as examples of people whose integrity and commitment reflect the ideals of the organisation.
He said that such personalities are rarely seen now and called for introspection within the organization.
His statements have acquired political significance as they come at a time when the opposition has again started criticizing the RSS.
