Pakistan is one of the most notorious countries in the world, where the army often kills its own people. Recently, the Pakistani Air Force bombed its own citizens in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan. The bombing was done through fighter aircraft, so that the citizens did not get a chance to flee. These airstrikes killed 30 people, including women and children, and dozens were injured. This raises the question that why Pakistan carried out air strikes on its own people?
Pakistani air strike in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The Pakistani Air Force carried out airstrikes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the early hours of Monday. Local media reports indicate that Pakistani JF-17 fighter jets dropped eight LS-6 bombs at Pashtun-dominated village Matre Dara at around 2 pm. These LS-6 bombs developed by China are accurate target bombs. They are considered to be similar to the American Joint Direct Attack Municipality (JDAM), but the firepower of this American weapon is much higher.
30 people killed in Pakistani air strikes
These Pakistani airstrikes killed at least 30 people including women and children. Many others were injured, but their condition is still not clear. After the attacks, many pictures and videos have been shared on social media, in which the destroyed houses and the bodies scattered all around are visible. Local people are also seen trying to save people trapped in the rubble. Given the lack of hospitals in the area, the death toll is expected to increase.
Why did Pakistan carry out air strikes?
Pakistan claims that it targeted Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) bases in the area. Pakistani Air Force JF-17 fighter jets were used for this. However, the target was the common Pashtun of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Local people say that the victims had no connection with TTP. Despite this, Pakistan bombed its own people on the basis of wrong information.
