New Delhi, July 2 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that Japan is a very important partner of India. He expressed confidence that in the coming times, relations between New Delhi and Tokyo will become even stronger and technology partnership will become the strongest foundation in this.
After his conversation with the Japanese Prime Minister in Delhi, PM Modi wrote on the social media platform
The PM said, “When it comes to economic relations, our target is clear. Investment of 10 trillion yen from Japan in India in the next ten years and doubling the number of Japanese companies in India.”
The two leaders participated in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, where they reviewed the entire scope of cooperation between the two countries and talked about further strengthening it.
PM Modi wrote on ‘X’, “Prime Minister Takaichi and I believe that technology will form the strongest foundation of our partnership. To take this vision forward, today we have issued a joint statement in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Many leading institutions in India’s AI sector have also signed agreements with their Japanese partners today. We also discussed cooperation in the fields of energy, people-to-people contacts and education.”
The Japanese Prime Minister also described India as an important partner to advance the ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)’ in the Indo-Pacific region.
“India is an important partner for Japan to advance the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP). As we mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year, Japan and India will together contribute to the prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region and the world,” he wrote on X.
Japan’s PM Sanae Takaichi said that her idea of ’Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)’ and Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Ocean Vision’ both have the same objective. To make the Indo-Pacific region an open and prosperous maritime region where all people can enjoy freedom and progress.
In the meeting, the two leaders also discussed the regional situation, especially focusing on the Indo-Pacific region.
