Washington. America is celebrating its 250th Independence Day (America 250). US President Donald Trump’s special ‘America 250’ celebration is going on in Washington. Amid the inclement weather, organizers announced that the National Mall would reopen at 9:45 p.m. and the President would deliver his speech at 11 p.m., even though the celebration was briefly halted due to a severe storm. Freedom 250 announced the revised schedule after officials ordered thousands of people to leave the National Mall in the evening due to fears of inclement weather. “It is time to celebrate in America,” Freedom 250 spokeswoman Danielle Alvarez said in a statement.
President Donald J. Per Trump’s direction, the National Mall gates will reopen at 9:45 p.m. The ‘Salute to America’ ceremony will continue, with the President giving a speech at 11:00 pm followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
The statement further said that rain or shine, the American people deserve to celebrate the nation’s historic 250th Independence Day.
For the past 250 years, Americans have met every challenge with courage, perseverance, and determination. Rain can never dampen our pride, our patriotism or our celebration of being the greatest nation in the history of the world.”
Earlier, due to bad weather in the US capital, the organizers had ordered mandatory evacuation of the National Mall and surrounding venues.
“The safety of our guests, artists and staff is our top priority,” Alvarez previously said in a statement.
Due to the storms, Freedom 250, the United States Secret Service, the United States Park Police, the National Park Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and all public safety partners requested that all guests evacuate the venue and seek temporary shelter in a nearby building.
A White House official later confirmed that the gates would reopen at 9.45pm and that Trump’s speech had been rescheduled to 11pm.
Trump also indicated that the event would continue regardless of the weather.
He posted on the social media platform Truth and said that storms bring good luck on every occasion. They also make events a little more exciting. We will wait. I don’t care if it’s 2 in the morning.
He further said that today is Saturday night. Let’s have some fun. Even if we stayed out late tonight. He has mentioned the time for the speech as 11:00 am. who’s Care?
