Kolkata, July 7 (IANS). Suspended spokesperson of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Riju Dutta has made many important comments regarding the law and order, administrative functioning and Panchayat system of West Bengal. He claimed that there is a clear difference in administrative behavior when in power and when in opposition.
Suspended Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Riju Dutta, while talking to news agency IANS, said that a senior IPS officer at the police headquarters in Lalbazar had told him that when you are in power, you get 80 percent facilities and when you are not in power, you get only 20 percent facilities.
Riju Dutta also expressed concern about the Panchayat system of the state. He said that many representatives of the Panchayat are not coming to the office regularly due to various reasons, due to which common people are facing problems and development works are getting affected.
He also referred to Dilip Ghosh’s comment on this issue, in which he had said that those who do not come to work will be pelted with stones instead of eggs. However, Riju Dutta clarified that he does not personally support this statement. He said that he has respect for Dilip Ghosh, but any kind of violent language or action cannot be considered appropriate.
Commenting on the political situation in the state, Riju Dutta said that the biggest challenge before CM Suvendu Adhikari is to handle law and order. He said that Bengal is a big and sensitive state, where incidents of political and social violence have been happening for a long time. In such a situation, the biggest test for any government will be to maintain law and order along with development work.
Referring to recent criminal incidents, he said that the incident of alleged gang rape and murder of a minor girl in Baruipur shocked the entire state. Additionally, a 17-year-old youth was murdered over a football match in the same area. Such incidents are an indication that there is a need to make law and order in the state more effective. Along with development, the priority of the government should also be to ensure the safety of the citizens.
