If you appeared for the NEET UG 2026 exam and have not yet updated your bank account information for fee refund, then there is an important update for you. National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline for updating bank details, giving students another chance. Earlier this process was to be completed by July 7, 2026, but now candidates can update or confirm their bank details till 11:50 pm on July 14, 2026.
According to NTA, many students have not yet updated their bank account information. The deadline has been extended so that all eligible students can get a refund of their fees. Therefore, students who have not yet completed this process should visit the official website and update their bank details within the stipulated time.
Why is NTA giving fee refund?
NTA had canceled the NEET UG 2026 exam, which was originally scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026, following allegations of paper leak. After this the examination was conducted again on June 21, 2026. As a result, it was decided that the examination fee will be refunded to the candidates appearing for the examination on May 3. To get the refund, all candidates are required to enter their correct and current bank account details on the official portal. To make this process easier, NTA had started the facility to update bank details.
How many students have updated their bank details so far?
According to NTA, till now 1,028,223 candidates have updated or confirmed their bank account information. The process of fee refund has been started for these students. However, this figure is very low compared to the total number of candidates; Around 22 lakh students appeared in the May 3 examination. This means that approximately 12 lakh candidates have not yet updated their bank details. For this reason, the agency has extended the last date till July 14, 2026.
