New Delhi, July 10 (IANS). Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has appointed MLA Abhay Kumar Verma as the chief spokesperson of the Delhi government and MLAs Anil Kumar Sharma and Harish Khurana as the spokespersons of the government. These appointments have come into effect with immediate effect.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that the government has taken this important decision to further strengthen the resolve of transparent, accountable and people-centric governance. Through this system, official and factual information about the government’s policy decisions, development works and public welfare schemes can be delivered to the citizens and media in a timely manner.
The public representatives appointed as Chief Spokesperson and Spokesperson will present the official side of the Delhi Government on various contemporary issues. They will share official information on important decisions, policy initiatives of the Government and issues of public interest, establish effective communication with the media and also clarify facts and decisions on behalf of the Government, when necessary. Along with this, they will perform the responsibility of conveying the government’s viewpoint to the public on the basis of authorized information received from various departments.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that in a democratic system, effective public dialogue is an important basis of good governance. With the appointment of chief spokesperson and spokespersons, the communication between the government and the citizens will become more powerful and authentic, transparent and timely information related to governance will reach the general public in a systematic manner. With this, the system of providing clear and authorized information regarding public welfare initiatives of the government will also be strengthened.
