Kolkata, July 11 (IANS). West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday announced a policy of the government purchasing land directly from landowners to set up new industries in the state.
Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of a hosiery manufacturing unit at Dunkuni in Hooghly district, CM Suvendu Adhikari said, “We have formulated a policy of direct land purchase. The state government had already started the policy of direct purchase of land in the international border areas of the state and then handed them over to the Border Security Force (BSF) for erecting barbed fencing. The same policy will be adopted in the case of industry also. We do not want the same tension regarding availability of land for industry to arise again. Be born, as happened earlier in Singur and Nandigram. I assure people who want to do industry or business here that you will not have any problem in getting the land. We will buy the land directly and give it to you.”
Speaking on the occasion, the CM official also said that the most important condition for attracting new investments in the state is to maintain stable law and order in the state.
He further said, “Our government has made some progress in this direction. We are determined to ensure a suitable investment environment for industrialists by ensuring stable law and order and completely eliminating the age-old culture of bribery and extortion.”
He also criticized the previous Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government as the new BJP government had inherited huge amounts of debt.
The Chief Minister said, “We are spending about Rs 1,00,000 crore per year in repaying loans and interest. If this money was available it could have been used for more development work. That is why the state needs to increase revenue for development. The more industries and factories are set up in West Bengal and the more investment there is, the more revenue will come into the government treasury, that is why our government is working with the aim of making West Bengal once again one of the major investment destinations of the country. “Doing it.”
He also said that large-scale industrialization is necessary to create more employment in West Bengal.
The Chief Minister said, “The problem of unemployment cannot be solved only through state government jobs. Large-scale employment generation in the public sector is also necessary. We will also encourage new enterprises in the state. For this, the state government will provide loans at concessional rates.”
