The investigation has intensified in the case of alleged irregularities and theft in the offerings of Ram temple. Police have taken two accused in this case, Ramashankar Mishra and retired bank employee Subhash Srivastava, on 14-hour police remand. At around 8 am on Wednesday, the police team reached Faizabad jail and took both the accused to the police line, where they are being interrogated thoroughly.
According to police officials, during interrogation, information will be collected from the accused about misappropriation of donation amount, use of money and other possible associates. If necessary, the police can also take both the accused to their homes, so that evidence related to the case and the hidden money can be searched.
How was the money offered stolen?
The main focus of the investigating agencies is on how the amount of temple offerings was made missing and where it was hidden. The police is also trying to find out who all played a role in this whole matter and where the stolen money was used. It is being told that the accused Ramashankar Mishra had the responsibility of safely delivering the offerings coming to the temple to the counting room. During investigation, police found Rs 7.32 lakh deposited in his bank account, which is also being investigated.
Serious allegations against retired bank employee also
The second accused Subhash Srivastava, a retired employee of State Bank of India (SBI), was responsible for monitoring the staff counting the offerings at the temple. The police suspect that many important clues related to the counting and records of offerings can be found from them.
The court gave remand for 14 hours, not 7 days.
On Tuesday, the police presented both the accused in the court and demanded 7 days police remand, but at present the court approved only 14 hours remand. During this period, the police will interrogate both of them and try to collect evidence.
Four accused have already been interrogated
In this case, the police have already interrogated Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra and Karunesh Pandey on police remand. Now the investigation will be taken forward on the basis of information received from Ramashankar Mishra and Subhash Srivastava. The entire state is keeping an eye on this matter related to the center of faith like Ram Temple.
