Uttarakhand News: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated 75 railway stations redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme across the country. In the same sequence, the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station located in Dehradun was also dedicated to the nation. On this occasion, Governor of Uttarakhand Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami were also present.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the redevelopment of Harrawala Railway Station is a matter of pride for the state. He said that this station, developed at a cost of about Rs 19 crore, reflects the natural beauty of Doon Valley and the cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. A beautiful coordination of modernity and culture has been presented by giving place to traditional Aipan art in the station premises, while state-of-the-art passenger facilities will make the journey more safe, easy and comfortable.
The Chief Minister said that Indian Railways is going through a phase of unprecedented transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. There has been a continuous increase in the modernization, safety, speed and technical efficiency of the railway network and modern, indigenous trains like Vande Bharat and NaMo Bharat have emerged as the new identity of self-reliant India.
The Chief Minister said that with the guidance of the Prime Minister and the cooperation of the Central Government, the dream of providing rail connectivity to the hilly areas of Uttarakhand is also rapidly being realized. He informed that more than 75 percent work of Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project has been completed. This project will provide new impetus to the social, economic and tourism development of the state. He said that the two Vande Bharat trains received by Uttarakhand are providing special facilities to the passengers and tourists coming to the state.
The Chief Minister said that the Central Government has provided a record railway budget of Rs 4,769 crore to Uttarakhand this year for the development of railway infrastructure and work is in progress on railway projects worth more than Rs 39,491 crore in the state. He said that this is a proof of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s special affection and commitment towards Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station will prove to be an important milestone in the development journey of Uttarakhand and will further strengthen the “optionless resolve” of developed Uttarakhand along with the resolve of a developed India. On this occasion, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd), public representatives, senior officials of Indian Railways, state government officials and a large number of local citizens and dignitaries were present.
