America is currently the most powerful country in the world. America is the world’s largest economy today and also has the world’s largest and strongest army. The US dollar is the most commonly used currency in the world. America is also a pioneer in technology, science and research. In addition, it has a profound impact on global politics, business and culture.

America was a slave for 176 years

But do you know that America has been a slave of the British like India? The US was a British colony (slavery) for 176 years. It started in 1607 in Jamestown in the first English colony and continued till July 4, 1776. However, the British government signed the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783 and gave the US independent recognition.

How America became a slave of British

There are many historical reasons behind America’s becoming a slave to the British. In the early 17th century, England began to establish their colonies in the US. The first permanent English colonial was established in Jamestown (Virginia) in 1607, after which it continued to develop. Thirteen British colonies were eventually established. These colonies were mainly settled in search of trade, agriculture and religious freedom.

The British government maintained strong control over these colonies and imposed many taxes including the Sugar Act, Stamp Act for economic benefits. The colonists did not get any representation to pay taxes, which led them to remain dissatisfied. Due to this dissatisfaction, the desire for freedom gradually was awakened. Meanwhile, after the great wars between Britain and France, Britain started charging more taxes from colonies, which further strengthened the roots of the revolution of freedom. The colonists boycotted British goods and started agitation for their rights.

Rebellion arising from Boston Tea Party Movement

In 1773, the Boston Tea Party movement gave the rebellion the form of a mass movement. The freedom struggle began in 1775 with the battles of Lexington and Concord. In 1776, American colonies declared independence and waged a war against British rule. Thirteen American colonies staged a protest for their rights and a war broke out in 1775. France, Spain and other countries helped American revolutionaries, leading to a decisive lead in the war.

Which leaders contributed to the freedom struggle?

Many Americans contributed significantly to the freedom struggle. George Washington was the commander of the revolutionary army. He is known as the founder of American independence. He became the first President of independent America after independence.
Thomas Jefferson: Prominent writer Thomas Jefferson also contributed significantly to American independence. He later became the President of America.
Benjamin Franklin: The major US diplomat, who played an important role in getting support from France.
John Adams: Strong supporters of freedom, prominent members of Congress. He later became the President of America.
Apart from all this, Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, Markwis de Lafyat also played an important role in freedom movement, inspiration and cooperation.
