A major incident took place in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, when Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee was suspended for the rest of the monsoon session due to allegations of misbehavior and using abusive language with women MPs. Earlier, there was a heated argument between Kalyan Banerjee and NCPI MPs inside the House, after which the matter was brought to the notice of the Lok Sabha Speaker.
**Controversy in the house**
After the House was adjourned amid uproar from the opposition, a heated argument broke out between TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee and some of his former colleagues, who are now NCPI MPs. NCPI MPs Mithali Bagh, Shatabdi Roy and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar were involved in this debate. Although the exact reason for the fight was not clear, some opposition MPs intervened to calm down both the parties. After this Kalyan Banerjee left the House.
**Complaint before the Chairman**
After the incident, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Shatabdi Roy and other NCPI MPs went to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s chamber to complain about the matter. According to sources, the Speaker asked him to submit a detailed written complaint of the entire incident. The complaint alleged that Kalyan Banerjee used abusive language inside the House and misbehaved with women MPs, including Kakoli Ghosh and Shatabdi Roy.
**Arjun Meghwal presented suspension motion**
Taking the matter seriously, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal moved a motion in the House stating that Kalyan Banerjee had misbehaved with women MPs and hence he should be suspended for the rest of the session. After this, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha got the proposal voted on in the House. After the voting, the Speaker announced that the motion was accepted and Kalyan Banerjee was suspended for the remainder of the monsoon session. He was also instructed to leave the House premises immediately. Following these incidents, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned till the next day.
