LPG Price: LPG cylinder rates may change on August 1, 2026. Government Oil Marketing Companies IOCLHPCL and Bharat Petroleum update LPG rates on the 1st of every month. Sometimes in special circumstances the rates are updated in the middle of the month. During the Iran-America war, domestic cylinder became costlier by Rs 60 on March 7. Its price in Delhi increased from Rs 853 to Rs 913.
On June 7, inflation hit again and the domestic cylinder price increased by Rs 29, in Delhi this cylinder became Rs 942. Overall, so far this year, domestic LPG cylinder has become costlier by Rs 89. Commercial LPG cylinder increased by Rs 994 even in the midst of the war.
Now the commercial price of 19 kg in Delhi is Rs 2930. This situation came after the prices decreased in July. Earlier it was at Rs 3113.50. Talking about last year, on August 1, 2025, the commercial cylinder was priced at Rs 1631.50 and the domestic cylinder was priced at Rs 853.
The government had taken tough and big decisions from March to May.
During the Iran war, the Modi government had taken many tough decisions to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG cylinders from March to May. From curbing the supply of commercial LPG cylinders except for a few special ones, rules were tightened regarding booking and delivery of domestic cylinders.
Due to panic buying, queues outside gas agencies became common. This time the situation of war has become more terrible than before. Despite the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the supply of LPG cylinders in India continues uninterrupted.
Hormuz closed yet where is the gas coming from?
According to a new report by CRISIL Intelligence, India has changed its LPG import strategy in just a few months. Whereas earlier India used to buy about 90% of its imported LPG from Middle-Eastern countries, now a large quantity of gas is being procured from America, Iran and many European countries. Apart from this, Iran has also started supplying LPG to India again. Gas is also being purchased from countries like Argentina, Chile, France and Netherlands.
Bad news for Ujjwala beneficiaries
If the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme take the fourth cylinder by July 31, then they will have to lose the subsidy of Rs 300 from August to March 31 next year. Because, the government has reduced the number of subsidized cylinders from 9 to 6 and now from 6 to 4. That means, if someone has taken 4 cylinders, then from next month from August he will get the domestic cylinder at the normal rate only. If there is no change in the price in August, Ujjwala beneficiaries of Delhi will get the domestic cylinder for Rs 942. Now they are getting the same cylinder at a lower price of Rs 300.
