According to reports, the size of the leaked data is said to be from 700GB to around 1TB. However, the entire leaked data and its size have not yet been independently confirmed.
According to the report of news agency Reuters, initial investigation into the matter has revealed that an employee’s email account was compromised or hacked. Through this route the attacker gained unofficial access to sensitive information. According to the report, the leak is claimed to include information like account documents, loan files and audit related records of account holders.

In these, names of account holders, account related information, loan records, data related to Net Banking users, KYC documents and other banking records are mentioned. Bank of Baroda has confirmed the incident and said that the matter was related to the email account of an employee. According to the bank, its core banking systems are safe and the attack was stopped in time. The bank has initiated forensic investigation into the matter and is coordinating with the concerned authorities. This means that at present no evidence has emerged that the bank’s main banking system has been directly hacked or that customers’ bank balances have been directly impacted.

In the coming days, if you receive any suspicious call, SMS, email or WhatsApp message in the name of Bank of Baroda, then be cautious.
