New Delhi, 30 September (IANS). The central government said on Tuesday that the ‘Communication Saathi’ initiative of the Department of Telecommunications has helped in recovering 6 lakhs and stolen mobile handsets.
According to the Ministry of Communications, the ‘Block your lost/stolen mobile handsets’ on the civil-centered digital safety initiative has achieved a significant achievement, which has strengthened the trust of citizens in digital governance.
This achievement shows the government’s commitment to the safety of digital assets of citizens and shows the strength of technology in dealing with cyber crime.
This facility on the communication partner integrates the Department of Telecommunications, Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) and the State/Union Territory Police in Rilli Time.
According to the government, this feature, built on the theme of “Digital by Design”, is helping to recover one phone per minute.
This facility allows citizens to report, block, trace, or unlock the stolen/stolen mobiles on all Indian telecom networks.
To prevent any kind of misuse, the lost/stolen mobile handsets reported on the communication partner are blocked in telecom networks across India.
According to the government, “As soon as a SIM is used with such lost/stolen mobile handsets, automatic traditions arise and the citizens as well as the concerned police station are sent to an alert where a complaint of lost/stolen mobile handset was filed.”
In the generated tradition, citizens are provided with the details of the police station to contact through SMS.
With these efforts, the recovery rate has improved on a continuous monthly basis, the monthly recovery has increased from 28,115 in January 2025 to 45,243 in August 2025, which shows an increase of 61 percent in eight months.
This achievement confirms the government’s approach to a safe digital ecosystem where technology acts as a competent for civil empowerment and security.
Launched in May 2023, the communication partner has become India’s most wide digital security platform, which has recorded more than 19 crore website visits and more than 90 million mobile app downloads.
