Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria is often in the news due to his statements. Recently, Kaneria denied rumors in which he was planning to take citizenship of India. Kaneria clarified on the issue, saying that he had no intention of taking Indian citizenship. Recently, he had made positive comments on India’s internal affairs, due to which it became a topic of discussion.
Danish Kaneria is the second Hindu cricketer to play for Pakistan. Earlier, his cousin Anil Dalpat also played international cricket for Pakistan. Kaneria reported that he faced discrimination against the Cricket Board and officials in Pakistan. Although Kaneria also said that Pakistan is his birthplace, but India is his homeland due to his ancestors’ land.
Kaneria wrote on her social media, “Recently many people are asking me why I do not speak on Pakistan, and comment on India’s internal affairs. Some people are also saying that I am doing all this to get Indian citizenship. Amidst all this, I was necessary to clarify that at the moment I have no intention of taking Indian citizenship.”
Kaneria considers India as ‘temple’
Danish Kaneria also said that if any Indian citizenship is to be obtained in the future, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is already present. Kaneria wrote, “India is like a temple for me. Pakistan is my birthplace, but India is my motherland. I will always stand with religion and truth and keep exposing those who break the society.” He concluded his post with ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
Under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), there is a provision to grant citizenship to minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to torture for religious reasons. Earlier, Pakistan singer Adnan Sami received Indian citizenship in 2016, and recently he also received the Padma Shri.
Danish Kaneria recently made a big statement on the 100th anniversary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He appreciated the RSS and wrote, “I have seen his work around the world – helping the society, supporting the needy and empowering the youth.”
Overall, Danish Kaneria has made it clear that at the moment he has no intention of taking Indian citizenship, but he has kept his options open for the future, considering India as his homeland.
