Once upon a time, a farmer named Ramu lived in a small village. He was very hard-working, but he had a bad habit – he always wanted more, he was never satisfied with what he had. One day, while working in the fields, he found a shining golden idol inside the ground.
There was no limit to Ramu’s happiness. He thought, “Now my luck has changed.” He brought the idol home and sold it and earned a lot of money. Now he had good clothes, a big house and many facilities, but within a few days he again became dissatisfied. He thought, “If I can get one idol, I can get more.”
Due to greed, he started digging his field every day. He forgot to pay attention to farming. Days passed, the farm was ruined, the crops were destroyed and the household expenses also increased, the money he had earned from the idol gradually started to run out. Now Ramu has neither farm nor money left. One day he sat down tired and started thinking, “What have I lost?” Then an elder of his village came to him and said, “Ramu, nature had given you the way to earn through hard work, but you left it due to greed.”
Ramu understood his mistake. He again started cultivating his farm, worked hard and gradually his condition started improving. Now he has decided that he will be satisfied with whatever he gets and will move forward only through hard work. The lesson learned from the story is that greed makes a person deviate from his original path. True success is hidden only in hard work and satisfaction.
