Swami Vivekananda had developed a specific personality of his own in his youth, who would have been convinced of his talent. His British professors were also influenced by him. Once his college principal W. W Hasti came to his room. On some context, he asked, ‘Narendra! Tell me who is an atheist? ‘ Hearing this, Narendra said, ‘Sir, an atheist is the one who does not believe in himself. Does not believe in God. Hearing this answer, Hasti Saheb remained speechless for some time. Then he said something thinking, ‘So it means that Ishwar is nowhere.’
On this, Narendra firmly said, ‘God is sir. He is among the poor pundits and weak people of India whom the Ottoman and Mughal rulers continue to scrape and nowadays your government is scratching. Hasti Saheb was surprised to hear this fearless answer. He said, ‘I have visited remote countries, but so far I have not found any boy anywhere, which has talent and possibilities like you. You will definitely leave your mark in life.
Saying this, Hasti Saheb went out of the room. During the holiday, he called Narendra to his office and then put it on with great love and said, ‘Narendra you said in class, it is absolutely true, but I instruct you that do not say such things to any other English, never say, never say.’ Narendra asked, ‘Why sir?’
Hasti Saheb said, ‘He will report you and the government can send you to jail.’ Hearing this, Narendra smiled and said, ‘Sir! If by telling the truth, your government will send me to jail, then I will pray to God that every person of India starts telling the truth like me and your government starts feeding everyone in jail. -Surendra Agnihotri, Author
