Lucknow/Varanasi. On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, crowds of devotees gathered at Hanuman temples in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. Long queues of devotees were seen at Hanuman temples and Hanuman Setu in Aliganj in Lucknow. On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, special worship and rituals are being performed all over Varanasi. The Mahant of Varanasi’s famous Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple said that a 10-day festival has started in the temple from Hanuman Jayanti.

On the occasion of Chaitra Shukla Purnima, special shringar (makeup), tableaux, aarti and rituals dedicated to Lord Hanuman were performed. He said that in the morning there was Shehnai playing, Rudrabhishek by Brahmins, recitation of Ramcharitmanas, Sita-Ram Sankirtan and Sunderkand. There will be bhajan-kirtan throughout the night in the temple premises.

He said that a Ramayan conference has been organized from April 3 to 5, in which well-known scholars from Kashi and other parts of the country will deliver sermons daily from 5 pm. Meanwhile, a massive flag procession is being taken out by devotees from Bhikhari Pur area of ​​the city. President of ‘Shri Hanumat Seva Samiti’ organization Ram Bali Maurya said that this procession is considered one of the largest processions in the Purvanchal region.

He said tableaux from seven states are part of the procession and around one lakh flags have been prepared for the event. He said many devotees would walk barefoot to Sankat Mochan temple carrying flags and offer them to Lord Hanuman. Even in Ayodhya, on this occasion, a crowd of devotees gathered at Hanuman Garhi temple since morning.
