Varanasi. High alert has been declared in Kashi after a car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi. Special vigil is being maintained at Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple and Ganga Ghats. Besides, various agencies are keeping a special eye on other religious places of Kashi. Suspects are being investigated by the police at Varanasi Junction, Banaras Railway Station and bus stands.
Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal said that instructions have been given to conduct checking campaign and frisking at crowded places. All police station heads have been instructed to increase patrolling in their areas with intensive checking. Bomb disposal squad (BDS) and dog squad have been deployed at the Ganga ghats.
Also, an appeal has been made to the people that if they see any suspicious person or thing, they should immediately inform the police. Hotels, guest houses and dharamshalas are being investigated and checked by investigating agencies and police teams. Special security arrangements have been made at the airport. Checking campaign will also be conducted in parking lots and court premises. Commandos have been deployed in Vishwanath temple. Crowded areas are being monitored through CCTV cameras.
