A historically and spiritually significant moment was recorded at Somnath Temple, one of India’s ancient and most sacred pilgrimage sites. The grand Kumbh Abhishek of the 155 feet high Shikhar Kalash of the temple was completed, which is being seen as a symbol of religious faith and cultural pride across the country.
The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi specially participated in this sacred ritual and performed the ritual worship amid the chanting of Vedic mantras. This event is not only important from the religious point of view, but it is also being seen as a form of preservation and renaissance of Indian cultural heritage.
🌊 Holy water of 11 pilgrimages and 1100 liters of Abhishek
In this special Kumbhabhishek, water brought from 11 holy pilgrimage sites of the country was used. The Shikhar Kalash was anointed with a total of 1100 liters of holy water, due to which the atmosphere was completely filled with spiritual energy. According to Vedic traditions, this ritual is believed to reawaken the divine power of the temple.
There was a huge crowd of devotees in the temple premises since morning. Amidst the blowing of conch shells, chanting of mantras and Vedic rituals, the entire atmosphere was filled with devotion and reverence. The event passed off peacefully amid tight security arrangements.

Somnath Temple is considered to be the oldest and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India. Its history is full of sagas of invasions, reconstruction and renaissance. It is considered a symbol of Indian faith and determination.
It is believed that this temple was destroyed several times and each time it was rebuilt in a grand form. This is the reason why Somnath temple is also called “symbol of imperishable faith”.
