Kanpur, Amrit Vichar. This time there is confusion regarding Holi festival. Clearing this confusion, astrologers have announced to celebrate Rangotsav 4. It was told that after midnight of March 2, the best time for Holika Dahan would be between 12:50 am to 2:02 am (morning of March 3). A lunar eclipse is taking place on March 3, this eclipse will last from 3:20 pm to 6:46 pm. Sutak will come into effect from 9.20 am. Holi will be celebrated as a festival of colors across the country on March 4.
Astrologer Pandit Manoj Kumar Dwivedi told that according to classical calculations, it would be appropriate and scriptural to burn Holika during the tail phase of Bhadra after midnight on March 2. During this time, devotees can worship Holika with traditional rituals. According to religious texts, it is considered necessary for Holika Dahan to be on full moon day, Bhadra free time and night time.
This time, due to Bhadra staying whole night, burning it during its tail period is considered auspicious as per the scriptures. Phalgun Purnima is starting at 5:55 pm on March 2 and will end at 5:07 pm on March 3. But due to the entry of Bhadra as soon as the full moon appears, there will be a change in the timing of Holika Dahan. In the scriptures, burning Holika during the head period of Bhadra is prohibited, whereas the tail period is not considered inauspicious. In such a situation, after midnight of March 2, the best time for Holika Dahan will be between 12:50 am to 2:02 am (morning of March 3).
Sutak will be on 3rd
A lunar eclipse is taking place on March 3, this eclipse will last from 3:20 pm to 6:46 pm. In India, the eclipse will begin with moonrise at 6:14 pm and end at 6:46 pm. According to religious beliefs, Sutak period starts about 9 hours before the eclipse.
That means Sutak will start from 9.20 am. Doing any kind of auspicious work or celebration is prohibited during Sutak period. Therefore, organizing a festival of colors is not as per the scriptures, hence Holi will not be played on 3rd March. Due to lunar eclipse and Sutak, the festival of colors will be celebrated on March 4.
Rangotsav will be held on 4th
When sunrise occurs on Chaitra Krishna Pratipada Tithi, Vasantotsav or Rangotsav should be celebrated on the same day. This year, Chaitra Krishna Pratipada Tithi will be present at the time of sunrise on 4th March. Therefore, according to classical decorum and folk tradition, Holi will be celebrated as a festival of colors across the country on March 4.
Necessary for Holika Dahan
Astrologers told that according to the scriptures (Dharmasindhu and Niranyasindhu), it is very important to keep some things in mind while choosing the right time for Holika Dahan.
Purnima Tithi: It is considered necessary to have Purnima Tithi at the time of Holika Dahan. Holika Dahan should be performed on the day when Purnima Tithi is present at the time of sunset.
Bhadra Rehit Muhurat: Auspicious works are not done during Bhadra period. In such a situation, a time when there is no Bhadra should be chosen. Burning Holika when Bhadra is at its peak is considered prohibited. If Bhadra occurs during Pradosh Kaal, one should wait till the Bhadra period is over.
Bhadra Poonch: If Bhadra lasts till after midnight and there is no time left for Dahan, then in case of emergency, Holika Dahan can be done during ‘Bhadra Poonch’. But burning should never be done in ‘Bhadra Mukh’.
