Prayagraj: Magh Mela 2026 has started. The first bathing festival started on the banks of Sangam with Paush Purnima and a huge crowd of devotees has gathered at Triveni Sangam since morning. Lakhs of devotees are getting virtuous benefits by taking a dip of faith. The fair administration has made elaborate arrangements for the safety and convenience of the devotees, while the officials are continuously monitoring the arrangements.
Administration on alert mode: Divisional Commissioner took information about the arrangements
During the bathing festival, Divisional Commissioner Soumya Aggarwal herself reached the spot and talked to the devotees. He said that all the devotees are finding the arrangements very convenient and they are taking bath comfortably. All necessary facilities have been provided and everything is going on normally. He wished that Mother Ganga blesses everyone and that Magh Mela be auspicious for all.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while giving a message to the devotees on social media, said, “Shri Gangadevya Namah! Hearty congratulations to all the devotees and people of the state on the inauguration of Magh Mela and the holy Paush Purnima. Welcome to all the saints, religious leaders, Akharas and Kalpavasis who have come to take a dip in the Sangam. May Mother Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati fulfill everyone’s wishes.”

Expectation of 20-30 lakh devotees today, beginning of Kalpavas.
According to the fair administration, 20 to 30 lakh devotees will take Sangam bath on Paush Purnima. With this, the one month long Kalpvas of Kalpvasis has also started. This time, 10 bathing ghats have been prepared in 10,000 feet area, which is more than last year’s 8,000 feet. For the first time, CM Yogi has released a special logo for Magh Mela. Also, the ‘Mela Seva App’ of the electricity department was launched, where complaints can be registered by scanning the QR code.
This festival of faith is illuminating Prayagraj with divine light, where there is echo of cheers and atmosphere of devotion everywhere.
