Lucknow, Amrit Vichar: Preparations for the birth anniversary of Shyam Baba are going on in full swing at the temple situated on the banks of river Gomti. Baba’s temple is being decorated with 10 quintals of sea shells and conch shells. Artists called from Kolkata have been busy giving a grand look to the temple for 17 days.

General Secretary of Shyam Parivar, Rupesh Aggarwal said that the birth anniversary of Khatu Shyam is celebrated along with Devuthani Ekadashi in Kartik Shukla Paksha. This time the birth anniversary program will be held on 1st and 2nd November. The doors of the temple will be opened for the devotees on the morning of 1st November.

Treasurer Ashish Agarwal said that on November 1, a 101 kg cake made of sugar candy and mawa will be cut and the Prasad will be distributed. Local artists will sing praises of Shyam throughout the day. Poonam didi will present bhajan on 2nd November. On this day, Chhappan Bhog will be offered to Baba on behalf of 200 families. Last year about 2.5 lakh devotees had visited, this time the number is likely to be more.

Temple Committee Chairman Sanjeev Aggarwal said that anthonium flowers and other special flowers are being brought from Kolkata and Bengaluru to decorate the temple. Thermocol and bamboo tiles have been used in the court. Baba’s clothes are also being made from shells and conch shells.
