Lucknow, Amrit thoughts: Maa Sandohan Devi temple located in Chaupatia region is the main center of reverence and faith, where the mother gives divine darshan of her feet in full makeup to the devotees on the day of Ekadashi after Navratri. On other days, the mother’s feet are covered with clothes. Devotees from far and wide gather to see this supernatural form of mother.
The name of mother Sandohan Devi means Shaka and Devi who killed doubt. According to the priests of the temple, the devotee who sees various forms of the mother in Navratri nine days, his wish is fulfilled by the mother’s phase.
Mother’s history is associated with the sixth century
The temple’s chief serviceman Anoop Verma said that the carbon dating of the mother’s Pindi form has confirmed that it is of the sixth century. According to legend, in the 1300th century, a saint appeared in a dream by the mother for nine consecutive days during Navratri and ordered to remove Pindi from the pond.
With the help of devotees, she got the pindi and was established on Ekadashi. The next day when the devotees arrived to see, they saw that the mother’s pindi was lying down. Even after repeated efforts, Pindi used to be lying down the next morning. Then, assuming the wish of the mother, she was installed in a lying posture.
