Mythological story of King Kirtivirya and Queen Padmini

According to the legend, in ancient times, King Kirtivirya had immense wealth and glory, but he did not have the happiness of children. The king and his wife Queen Padmini were very sad due to not having children.

One day both of them reached the sages’ ashram and asked about the solution to have a child. Then he was advised to fast on Padmini Ekadashi of Purushottam month. Queen Padmini observed this fast with full devotion and rules.

Lord Vishnu was pleased with his devotion and blessed him with a brilliant son. It is believed that due to the effect of this fast, the king got the happiness of having a child and happiness returned in his life.
