Jalalabad tehsil of Shahjahanpur district, which was known as Parshurampuri in ancient times. After continuous movements since 2010, the government has recently changed the name of Jalalabad to Parshurampuri. Not only is it believed that Lord Parashuram was born on this land, but there are many places and evidences that authenticate this belief. Many researchers have also accepted Jalalabad to be his birthplace.
The thousands of years old temple of Lord Parshuram located in Mohalla Kheda of the town, the temple of his mother Renuka Devi in the nearby village Dhakiyain and the ashram of Rishi Jamadagni there are still telling the story of the glorious past of Lord Parashuram. Name was changed during Mughal rule
This area, which was known as Jogi Kheda thousands of years ago, later became famous as Parshurampuri and inscriptions of the same name have also been found at many ancient places. According to historians, Hakim Rahmat Khan, who ruled here during the Mughal rule, after the marriage of his middle son Jalaluddin, gave this entire area as dowry to his daughter-in-law, since then this city first became popular by the name of Mehrabad and later Jalalabad. However, its name has been changed again by Parshurampuri government.
Parashuram was born as the fifth son of Mother Renuka.
Regarding the birth of Lord Parshuram and the glory of Janasthan, Mahant Satyadev Pandey told that Lord Parshuram, the fifth son of sage Jamdagni and Mother Renuka and the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born in Jamdagni Ashram located on Khandhar Road in Jalalabad, which is now known as Dhakiyain Devi Sthan. Mohalla Kheda of Jalalabad, which was called Parshuram Kheda in ancient times, houses an ancient divine Lord Parshuram temple, in front of which there is an arched pond, known as Parshuramtal, which extends from the temple to Jamdagni Ashram.
Sahastrabahu was killed in Katkabahadurpur
There is also a village Katkabahadurpur in Jalalabad itself, where Lord Parshuram had killed Atatayi Sahastrabahu and even today when the soil of this village is dug, it comes out red like blood, on which many researches have been done and have also been certified. It is said so. An ax was found during excavation in the temple located in Mohalla Kheda, which according to experts is said to be thousands of years old. Recognizing the antiquity of this temple, it was renovated by the then Tehsildar Prabhudayal in 1905.
got a budget worth crores
Dr. Mahesh Sharma, who was the Minister of State for Tourism in the BJP government, had come to Shahjahanpur district. During this time, on the request of former MP Krishna Raj, he had come to Parshuram Temple located in Mohalla Kheda in Jalalabad. During this time, Lord Parshuram Janmabhoomi Management Committee had submitted a memorandum to him after giving the details of the movement, in which he promised to develop Parshuram Janmabhoomi as a tourist destination and prepare a budget for grand construction. Since then, after the efforts of Union Minister Jitin Prasad, a budget of crores was approved for the grand construction of the temple, due to which the construction work is still going on.
