Kanpur, Amrit Vichar. Sakat Chauth fast, celebrated on the Chaturthi date of Krishna Paksha of Magh month, will be on Tuesday, January 6. Preparations have started for this fast, which is observed for the happiness of the children. Due to the importance of sesame on this day, sesame items are decorated in the markets.
Especially the sales of white and black sesame laddus, laiya laddus, gajak and other items have increased. Regarding the fast, Vedic Vibhushan Astrologer Pt. Manoj Kumar Dwivedi told that this fast is known by many other names including Tilwa Chauth, Til-Kuta Chauth, Maghi Chauth. This fast is associated with the worship and fasting of Sakat Mata, Lord Ganesha and Moon God. The festival of Sakat Chauth is considered very auspicious.
The religious significance of Sakat Chauth (Sankashti Chaturthi) is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and Sakat Mata for the long life of children, happiness and prosperity and removal of all troubles (obstacles). In which women keep a fast for the well-being of their children, offer sesame seeds and after moonrise, break the fast by offering Arghya to the moon.
This fast is observed on Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha of Magh month and by observing it, Vighnaharta Ganesh removes all obstacles. Magh Krishna Chaturthi Tithi will start from 8:01 am on January 6 and will continue till 6:52 am on January 7. Since moonrise on 6th January is on Chaturthi Tithi and on 7th January on Panchami Tithi, the fast will be observed on Tuesday, 6th January only.
On this day, Lord Ganesha is worshiped and in the evening at the time of moonrise half of sesame seeds, jaggery etc. is given to the moon. Sesame seeds are roasted and ground with jaggery. A mountain of Tilkut is made. At some places, Tilkut goat is also made.
Three auspicious yogas were formed
On Tuesday, January 6, on the day of Sakat Chauth, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga will be from 7:15 am to 12:17 pm. Preeti Yoga will last the whole day and Ayushman Yoga will start after 8:21 pm. On this day, Ashlesha Nakshatra will last till 12:17 pm, after which Magha Nakshatra will begin. These yogas are considered favorable for worship.
