Gonda, Amrit Views: The temple of Mata Varahi Devi located in Mukundpur village of Umri Begumganj, about 40 km from the district headquarters, is the center of faith of millions of devotees. This temple of Maa Barahi, about 40 km from the district headquarters, is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths. It is said that when Lord Shiva was carrying the body of Goddess Sati, the jaw of Mata Sati fell at this place. The place where the jaw fell became a tunnel. That place still exists here today. No one could detect how deep this tunnel is. This temple of Mata Varahi is the center of faith of millions of devotees. Devotees from different districts of the state come here and see the mother. This temple of Mata Varahi is considered special in many ways. According to the local people, there is a tradition of donating eyes in this temple. Here, the devotees take artificial eyes at the feet of the mother. Putting the milk of an old vatavriksha here in the eye cures the eye malfunction and the light of the eye comes back. It is believed that the devotees who pray for the fulfillment of their wishes here with true heart, mother Varahi definitely fulfills their wishes.
The devotee Raju, who was present in the temple, said that she was spoiled due to the paddy leaf in her eye. Treatment was done but was not benefiting. Then when the temple came, the priest started putting milk of the banyan tree leaf in his eye. Now the eye is almost cured. At the same time, the female devotee also said that the eyes are cured by adding milk here. The female devotee who came to see the mother said that the mother definitely fulfills the wishes of the devotees who come here. Sadhvi Rama Devi, the chief priest of the temple, says that this temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths. Mata ji’s jaw had fallen here, which went straight to the Hades. That tunnel still exists in the present. Akhand Jyoti keeps on burning day and night at this place. Whose eye has gone, his eye light comes back by applying milk of 2500 year old Vatavriksha located in the temple premises.
Sharadiya Navratri: Mother Brahmacharini worshiped on the second day
On the second day of Sharadiya Navratri, on Tuesday, the second form of Mother Brahmacharini was worshiped. There was a wave of devotees in the Devi temples across the district to worship the mother. Devotees reached the mother Varahi Devi in Begumganj, including Kali Bhavani and Khaira Bhavani Temple of the city, Mata Patmeshwari Devi in Mehanoun and Bangarh Devi Temple in Mankapur. He offered prayers to the mother Katyayani by offering flowers, confectionery and adorments with coconut chunari and sought blessings of happiness and prosperity. Devotees gathered in the temple of Maa Barahi Devi in Umri Begumganj. Thousands of people worshiped in the temple of Maa Barahi and prayed for happiness and prosperity. At the Jwala Devi temple of Santoshi Mata Temple and Karnailganj, devotees also worshiped the mother with coconut chunari and sought the blessings of happiness.
