First day worship method

After bathing in the morning and meditation, start worshiping in auspicious time. First install the urn, then laying a red cloth on a post and keep it intact on it. After this, install the idol or picture of mother Shailputri. Anoint with Ganga water and offer red flowers, red sandalwood, red clothes and fruits. Finally perform the Aarti of the mother and get her blessings.

Importance of cow’s ghee

On the first day, offering cow’s ghee to mother Shailputri is considered especially auspicious. By doing this, the seeker gets the blessings of health, longevity and new energy in life. It is helpful in relieving all diseases and physical problems.

Mythological story of mother Shailputri

Mother Shailputri is worshiped as the daughter of the Himalayas. In her previous birth she was Sati, who was the daughter of King Daksha and the wife of Lord Shiva. In a yajna organized by Daksha, Sati committed self -immolation after being angry with the insult of Lord Shiva. After this, Shiva destroyed the yajna and started wandering with Sati’s body. Lord Vishnu divided Sati’s body into 51 parts with his Sudarshan Chakra, which became Shaktipeeth. Later Sati was born to the Himalayas and descended as Shailputri.

Mother Shailputri Mantra

Chanting this mantra at the time of worship brings the grace of mother Shailputri: ‘Om and Klein Shailputrai Namah.’ Worshiping Maa Shailputri brings special blessings for devotees on the first day of Navratri.
