Varanasi: In view of the arrival of lakhs of devotees during Shravan month and Kanwar Yatra, Varanasi administration has started preparations for comprehensive security and traffic management. Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal and District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar inspected the arrangements on foot from Godaulia to Dashashwamedh Ghat on Thursday evening. Also gave necessary directions to the officials.
During the inspection, preparations regarding security of devotees, crowd control, traffic arrangements and facilities for Kanwar pilgrims were reviewed.
The entire city will be divided into 5 zones and 15 sectors.
Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal said that the entire Varanasi city will be divided into 5 zones and 15 sectors for better law and order and crowd management during the month of Shravan.
For security arrangements, 5 IPS officers, 50 gazetted officers and about 5,000 policemen will be deployed, so that the devotees can get the facility of safe and orderly darshan.
Special security arrangements will be made in Kashi Vishwanath temple
On the occasion of Shravan Monday and Mahashivratri, additional security forces will be deployed at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and surrounding major roads.
Barricading will be done at major places to keep the movement of devotees smooth and comfortable. Besides, lost and found centers will also be set up to help the separated people.
Surveillance will be done by policemen in plain clothes and CCTV
The Police Commissioner said that policemen in plain clothes will be deployed in crowded areas, temple routes and sensitive places, who will keep an eye on suspicious activities.
He said that about 70 percent area of the city is already under surveillance of CCTV cameras. During the month of Shravan, there will be continuous monitoring of major roads, temple areas and crowded places through ‘Trinetra’ system. Apart from this, monitoring will also continue from the control room located at Kashi Vishwanath temple and railway station.
Special arrangements for water security on Ganga ghats
Flood relief police, water police and PAC personnel will be deployed for the safety of devotees at the Ganga ghats.
If needed, help of trained private divers will also be taken. Deep water barricading will be arranged at the ghats to prevent devotees from going into deep water.
Separate lanes and medical assistance for Kanwar pilgrims
To make the Kanwar Yatra safe and easy, one lane from Prayagraj to Mohansarai will be reserved for Kanwariyas.
Temporary police booths, rest stops and medical aid centers will be set up on the route. Apart from this, PRV or Phantom team will be deployed every four kilometers, so that immediate assistance can be provided in case of any emergency.
DJ operation will also be controlled
The administration has clarified that during Shravan month and Kanwar Yatra, the operation of DJ will be as per the sound standards set by the court. The height and structure of the DJ will also be kept as per safety standards, so that there is no possibility of any kind of accident.
