Thinking harm to others through mind, using bad words towards others and causing any kind of harm to others through body creates unrest in the mind. There will be a fear within. As long as you keep the sin hidden in your mind, you will remain full of self-guilt. Human beings have many personalities. The spiritual personality of them is beyond worldly narrowness. Its form is subtle and huge. It is free from hatred and jealousy. It controls worldly desires. When a man sins, it is his spiritual personality that suffers. That is why the personality remains afraid of sin and vices. The mind always remains restless. The sharp blow of the spiritual reins distresses him.
Generally it can be said that the deeds by which a man falls and his intellect gets corrupted are called sins. On the contrary, the good deeds by doing which the intellect becomes clean and pure and the soul remains content, are virtues. Sin gives rise to evil thoughts and inclination towards evil deeds; virtue purifies the conscience. There is a description of 5 great sins in the scriptures – Brahmahatya i.e. killing a Veda-knowledgeable ascetic Brahmin, drinking alcohol, inappropriate relationship with the Guru’s wife, theft and living with these great sins. Apart from these, there are many small sins which lead a person towards mental adultery. All the sins of the mind start from this type of evil thinking.
Desires remain hidden in the body like a seed in a tree. On receiving the slightest encouragement, they become enraged and inspire towards filth. These dirty desires hidden in the secret regions of the mind are our secret enemies. Lust is the main cause of bondage, destruction, degradation and degradation. A wise man should always be cautious of the fierceness of lust. This is the horror that gives rise to worldly worries. Here the question arises how to avoid sins. Sin is born in the human mind. Therefore, improvement of mind is necessary. The work of protection from sin should begin with cleanliness of the mind. The mind should be filled with pure virtuous thoughts. One should be alert as soon as any kind of disorder occurs in the mind. Emotions like lust, anger, greed, lust, hatred, fear etc. create a narrow personality. Due to this the personality becomes ineffective and weak. Due to this filth, man is unable to look within himself.
The determination and practice of not committing any kind of sin in the future is the means of liberation from sin. Atharvaveda (4/23/1) says- Sa no muchchatvamhasah. That is, may God free us from sin. Sin is like a tree, its seed is greed. Attachment is its root. Falsehood is its stem and illusion is the extension of its branches. Arrogance and deceit are leaves. Ignorance is a flower. Even if a sin is committed in any deep dark cave, it will remain visible one day or the other. You can deceive people but nature cannot be deceived. Like filth and garbage, Satan also resides in some unknown corner in the divine mind of man. Where there are forests fragrant with flowers, there are also rugged forests full of thorns. Where there is divine light of good knowledge, at some places there is also dense darkness. This darkness leads to sin and causes the fall of man.
It is our ignorance that draws us towards sin. In the darkness of momentary lust or little gain, he has no discretion about right and wrong. He is unable to see his permanent benefits and starts walking on the path of degradation. Sin is animality. Man’s body, mind and soul are filth. Sorrow is a demon that takes you to hell. Lust, anger, greed, attachment, dissatisfaction, cruelty, pride, grief, jealousy and condemnation, these vices that reside in man start growing like grass as soon as they get the slightest favorable encouragement and tarnish the fame of years.
Man generally moves towards sin through three organs – body, mind and speech. The sins committed by him can take many forms. There may be different stages and levels. Be aware of these. The sins committed by the body include all those misdeeds, the commission of which leads to the destruction of the human body which is the temple of God. Many diseases arise in a body like Kanchan. Due to which man has to suffer the consequences of evil deeds while alive. All these will push your life into deep depression. These are such worst sins that by drowning, everyone from great kings, rich people to innumerable ordinary householders have been destroyed. This causes great pain to our God-like soul. Man becomes victim of a disease like self-indulgence. Due to which bad tendencies like suicide are awakened. Family happiness, the sacred love and prosperity of children and wife are destroyed. Everywhere a black darkness envelops the mind, speech and body.
In such a situation, the mental state becomes restless, sad and sad. Conflict continues in him and his conscience becomes tainted. All these mental sorrows are as painful as the tortures of hell. It is dangerous to have sinful thoughts in the mind. Your mind should be like a pure temple of God. Sin is like water. It pulls us downwards. Similarly, no matter what vice there is in your character, it will take you downwards. No matter how hard you try, a mind tainted by internal sins becomes clearly visible. Due to vices, man’s higher creative powers become paralyzed. Intelligence and talent become frustrated. When we do any dirty work, we experience a secret pain in the heart. The divine part of our mind keeps torturing us. It is the duty of all of us to be free from blame. A person who is free from faults is superior and higher than others to the same extent.
Constantly try to remain free from all types of faults through your mind, words and actions. Sin can also be extinguished through sincere repentance. We can become free from faults only by developing our virtues. The best atonement is that in which man’s sinful tendencies fade away and virtues and higher qualities develop. The mistake must be compensated from the inner mind. Due to upper punishment it will be suppressed for some time. When it is suppressed, it bursts out like pus in a boil as soon as it gets the opportunity and leads to degradation.
Repenting is a symbol of a virtuous mind. This indicates that the divine spirit of Shiva resides within you. All your dirty desires will be burnt in the fire of true repentance and you will start shining like pure gold. Virtue is that work which purifies the lower tendencies of man. Downward tendencies become upward and in place of lust there is an awakening of Shivatva. Residence at holy places, satsang, self-study and sacred works of social service make the tendencies higher.
