A total of two solar eclipses have been recorded this year, out of which one eclipse has already taken place, while the other is going to take place in the coming time. Solar eclipse is considered an important event from the point of view of both astronomy and astrology, which is studied both religiously and scientifically.

Although there is a discussion going on on social media that a solar eclipse may occur on Somvati Amavasya, but according to astrological calculations, no solar eclipse is occurring on Somvati Amavasya this year.

According to astrologers, solar eclipse always occurs on Amavasya Tithi, when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun and covers the Sun partially or completely. The upcoming solar eclipse will also occur on a specific Amavasya date, the exact date of which is decided on the basis of astronomical calculations.

There is often confusion among people regarding Sutak period. According to religious beliefs, the Sutak of the solar eclipse starts about 12 hours before the eclipse begins. However, Sutak is valid only when the eclipse is visible in India. If the eclipse is not visible in the country, then the effect of Sutak is also not considered valid.

Experts say that during the eclipse, traditional precautions are taken regarding worship, food and some religious activities, whereas from the scientific point of view it is considered an astronomical phenomenon. Overall, this year the solar eclipse will occur on Amavasya Tithi only, but it has no connection with Somvati Amavasya and the effect of Sutak will also depend on the visibility.
