Lucknow/Bakshi Ka Talab, Amrit Vichar: On the first day of the New Year, thousands of devotees visited the Chandrika Devi temple located in Kathwara village and prayed to the Mother Goddess for a happy new year. The temple committee and fair committee have claimed that more than two lakh devotees have reached the temple.

Temple priest Naresh Saini said that the doors of the temple were opened for the devotees at 4 am on Thursday. At that time also there were long queues outside the temple. The crowd increased further in the afternoon. The process of darshan and worship continued till evening.

Fair Committee Chairman Akhilesh Singh Chauhan said that this year more devotees came for darshan as compared to last year. Due to good sunshine in the afternoon, the number of devotees nearby increased further. Due to the crowd of devotees, there was a long traffic jam throughout the day. Due to the traffic jam, a large number of devotees who came from far away parked their vehicles in villages and forests and reached the temple on foot. A feast was also organized by the fair committee in the temple premises. Devotees tasted the Prasad in this.
