Lucknow, Amrit Vichar: In continuation of Maa Gomti’s Aarti organized every month under the auspices of Namostute Maa Gomti, on Saturday, on the full moon day of Shukla Paksha of Paush month, a grand aarti was organized at Upvan Ghat on Gomti bank in Daliganj. This event took place in the presence of Mahant Devyagiri Maharaj of the ancient Shivalaya Shri Mankameshwar Temple. On this occasion, Aarti of Maa Gomti was duly performed from 11 altars amidst the sound of conch shells and bells, due to which the entire ghat was filled with devotional atmosphere.
In the morning, amid the cold of Paush month, the temple servants and volunteers conducted a cleaning campaign of the Gomti River. During this, a message was given to keep the river clean by removing water hyacinth and garbage. In the afternoon, Rangoli was decorated at Upvan Ghat and extensive cleaning of the Ghat was done. Temple chief sevadar Upma Pandey along with many women sevadars and volunteers played an active role in the preparations for the event.
Before the Aarti, Sadhvi Gauraja Giri performed the puja with chanting of mantras. At the time of Aarti, the entire Gomati bank was filled with spiritual energy with the lighting of lamps, sound of conch shells and echo of bells. On this occasion, Maa Shakambari Devi was also duly worshipped. During the programme, the birth anniversary of social reformer and first teacher of modern India Savitribai Phule was also celebrated with reverence. He was honored by paying floral tributes to his photograph.
Mahant Devyagiri Maharaj said that Savitribai Phule made historical contribution in women’s education, widow remarriage and eradication of social evils. He called upon all the devotees to keep Mother Gomti clean and pure and said that if there is water, there is tomorrow, and Gomti is the mother of all of us.
