Jammu. The pilgrimage of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi from the base camp Katra located in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir was postponed today on the 22nd consecutive day. Earlier the journey was scheduled to resume from 14 September, but it was re -postponed due to bad weather.

A Shrine Board official said, “Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra has been postponed till further orders.” “The devotees are requested to be updated through official communication medium,” he said. On August 26, 34 people were killed in a landslide due to heavy rains near Indraprastha restaurant in Ardhkunwari, most of which were pilgrims and many were injured.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, has formed a high-level three-member committee to investigate the causes of landslides on August 26. A committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Water Power Department, Shaleen Kabra, in which Divisional Commissioner of Jammu and Inspector General of Police of Jammu B.S. Broken. This committee will submit a detailed report to Lieutenant Governor Sinha.

On September 13, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Chief Executive Officer of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, chaired a meeting at the Spiritual Development Center, Katra before the start of the 9 -day Navratras starting on 22 September and to ensure uninterrupted pilgrimage during the upcoming Navratras.

The Chief Executive Officer emphasized that Navratri is now coming closer in a few days and the board is expecting a large crowd of devotees at the Holy Tirtha site as well as the base camp Katra. So he emphasized the synergy among all stakeholders during the Navratri festival. He also called for action on various fronts for pilgrimage without any hassle in the coming days.
