Building a home is one of the biggest investments in life. Man spends a large part of his earnings and hard work on this. But, if the land is not auspicious, it can lead to frequent problems, loss of money, health issues and family unrest. Very easy and old methods of examining the land have been described in Vastu Shastra. By these methods one can know in advance whether the land will bring prosperity or trouble. Let us learn about the main methods and rules of soil testing.
Why is land testing important in Vastu Shastra?
According to Vastu Shastra, land is not just a piece of soil; It is also affected by the sun’s rays, Earth’s magnetic field, water level and directional energy. If there is negative energy or defect in the land, then the family living in the house built there may have to face frequent diseases, loss of money, fights and mental stress. Vastu experts say that not examining the land can lead to bad condition of the planets and major difficulties in life. Therefore, it is important to test the land before construction.
1. Method of doing pit test – the easiest and oldest test
This method is the oldest and easiest. Dig a hole on the land where you want to build a house, measuring the length, width and depth from your elbow to your little finger. Then, fill the pit with the same amount of soil.
If some soil is left after filling, the land is considered very auspicious. Building a house there increases wealth, happiness, joy and prosperity.
If some soil is left after filling, then the land is going to yield well. Staying there can lead to financial loss or financial problems.
If the soil is filled properly, neither too much nor too little, the land is considered to yield good fruits.
This method has been described as very old in Vastu books and is still used today.
2. Soil and color testing
The color of soil is also very important in Vastu.
White or light yellow soil – most auspicious, brings wealth and happiness.
Red or dark red colored soil – gives good results, hard work brings success. Black soil – less productive than normal, can cause health and financial problems.
Gray or ash-like soil – inauspicious; There are always problems in building a house there.
Soil can also be tested by smelling it. Good soil is aromatic and light. Heavy, smelly or sticky soil is considered inauspicious.
3. See direction, slope and surroundings
The direction and slope of the land are very important in Vastu. Land sloping towards north or east is considered most auspicious. The land sloping towards south or west gives good fruits. Flat land is also good, but if it is surrounded by high land on all sides then it is inauspicious. If there is a well, drain, graveyard, hospital, crematorium or dilapidated buildings near the land, then the land is considered inauspicious. If there are lush green trees, ponds or open fields around the land, then it is very auspicious.
4. Important points from scientific and Vaastu point of view
Vastu Shastra is not only religious but also scientific. In this, it is important to keep in mind the sun’s rays, the earth’s magnetic field and geographical location.
Being open in the East-East direction brings positive energy.
Heavy construction in South-West gives stability.
Accumulation of water or excessive moisture in the ground is considered inauspicious.
If there is too much iron, stones or pebbles in the ground, the soil should be replaced before construction.
In Vastu, foundation should be laid only after testing the soil. If the land is inauspicious, consider taking remedies before construction.
Sprinkle Ganga water and milk on the ground.
Purify the land by performing Havan and Yagya.
Perform Vaastu Puja and Bhoomi Puja.
Make a Havan Kund at the four corners of the ground and light a fire.
Maintain balance of the five elements (earth, water, fire, air and sky).
Even if the land is auspicious, follow the rules of Vaastu. This maintains happiness, prosperity, health and peace in the house.
Soil investigation is the first and most important step of Vastu. A little care can bring happiness throughout life. Always get it checked by a Vastu expert before getting your house built.
