When is immersion after Navratri is over? Know the auspicious time and method

The rigorous meditation and worship of the nine-day Shardiya Navratri ends with Durga Visarjan, which is also called Vijayadashami. This date is the festival of farewell of Maa Durga, when devotees immerse the idols and Ghatasthapana (Kalash) of Mata Rani and bid farewell praying for her return next year.

Best time for immersion: The time from 07:00 am to 12:00 noon on 02 October 2025 will be very auspicious for immersion of the Mother Goddess.

Method of Durga Visarjan

The following method is adopted to bid farewell to the mother on Dashami Tithi:

Resolution and Aarti: On the day of Dashami, take a bath in the morning and take a resolution of fasting and worship. Perform the last aarti in front of the idol or Ghatasthapana of Maa Durga.

Offering and apology: Offer flowers, roli, akshat, incense-lamp and naivedya (offering) to the mother. With folded hands, the devotees should apologize for any mistake or mistake made during the puja and pray to come again next year.

Immersion: Immerse the idol or Kalash of the Mother Goddess in a clean body of water – like Ganga, river, pond.

Chant: At the time of immersion, the devotees reverently chant “Jai Maa Durga” and “Next year you come quickly”.
