In Bharat NCAP crash test, the new Tata Punch has got 30.58 points out of 32.00 for adult safety and 45.00 out of 49.00 points for child safety.
The 2026 Tata Punch facelift, recently launched in the Indian market, has performed brilliantly in the Bharat NCAP crash test and achieved a 5-star safety rating. This once again proves that Tata Punch is one of the safest compact SUVs in the country. In the safety test, this SUV has got 30.58 points out of maximum 32.00 for adult safety.
During the adult safety test, Tata Punch performed strongly in both the major crash tests. In the frontal collision test, it got 14.71 points out of 16. In the side collision test, the SUV scored 15.87 points out of 16. It got an ‘OK’ rating in the side pole collision test, which means that the car provides good protection to the passengers even in the event of a sharp side collision.
These results clearly indicate that the Punch facelift provides good to adequate protection to the occupants head, chest and lower body. This SUV has also scored well in Child Occupant Protection (COP). Punch received a total score of 45.00 out of 49. The special thing was that it got 24 out of 24 points in the dynamic test, in which the child restraint system was used.
The vehicle received a score of 12 out of 12 for CRS installation, while 9.00 points were added from Vehicle Assessment. The test used child dummies aged 18 months and 3 years, which were fitted in Joie i-Spin Safe i-Size child seats with ISOFIX mounts and support legs in the rear-facing position. The variants tested included Tata Punch Pure+ CNG AMT and Accomplished CNG MT.
The vehicle’s weight at the time of testing was recorded at 1,448 kg. Talking about safety features, the Tata Punch facelift comes standard with dual front airbags, side curtain airbags, side chest and pelvis airbags, ESC, compliance with pedestrian safety standards and seat belt reminder for all passengers. ISOFIX mounts are also available on the rear outboard seats.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors is also working on an updated version of Punch EV. Additionally, the company’s electric Sierra is set to be launched later this year, while the first model of the all-new Avinya flagship range will be launched in India before the end of 2026, which will be based on JLR’s EMA architecture.
