Looking at the teaser, it seems that Mahindra Thar Rocks is expected to get a special edition in India soon.
Recently, Mahindra has introduced the XUV 7XO, which is a rebranded and more premium version of the XUV 700, while the XUV 3XO EV has also entered the market. Within a few weeks of the beginning of the new year, Mahindra is now seen preparing to launch another new model. There are some hints from the official teaser, but what the company is actually going to bring remains to be seen.
Domestic automaker Mahindra was seen testing the updated three-door Thar several times during 2025, which showed design elements inspired by the Thar Roxx. However, it later became clear that the changes in the three-door Thar would be quite limited. At the same time, the new teaser released is related to 5-door Thar Rocks.
It is expected that this could be a mild cosmetic update or a special edition for the Thar Rocks. The side profile in the teaser clearly shows that this is a big size Thar. Considering the good response Mahindra’s previous dark theme limited edition models received, the company may also introduce a black or dark theme special edition, with limited units being produced.
The line “The spotlight has found its star” used in the teaser indicates that this may not be a major facelift, but a new variant or a limited edition. Dark exterior color, blacked-out elements and exclusive badging can be seen in such versions.
If there are any changes to the interior, they will also be limited, including new seat upholstery, different trim finishes or special edition elements. At the same time, if it gets a mild facelift for 2026, it may see an updated infotainment system, new interior materials and minor exterior changes.
However, the possibility of mechanical change is less. Engine and gearbox options are expected to remain the same. However, it cannot be completely ruled out that the company may also introduce the 1.5 liter diesel engine found in the three-door Thar with the Thar Rocks in the future.
