KTM has introduced new 350 cc versions of the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure, while the existing models will remain on sale as before.
KTM India has launched new 350 cc versions of the KTM 390 Duke and KTM 390 Adventure to strengthen its hold in the premium motorcycle segment. This step has been taken after the introduction of 350 cc models of Triumph Motorcycles, where the benefit of at least 18% GST is available.
The new variants are cheaper in price than the existing 399 cc models, but there has not been much compromise in their performance and character. The KTM 390 Duke (350cc) is priced at Rs 2,77,268 and the KTM 390 Adventure (350cc) is priced at Rs 2,80,905 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the existing 390 Duke R and 390 Adventure series will continue without any changes.
The Austrian manufacturer has not compromised much on performance despite the smaller engine. Both the motorcycles produce 41.5 PS of maximum power and 33.5 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, their mechanical setup has also remained almost the same, with both the bikes sharing the same wheelbase, ground clearance and overall ergonomics as their larger engine models.
The KTM 390 Duke remains best suited for city driving with its sharp and aggressive streetfighter styling, while the KTM 390 Adventure is known for its touring and off-roading capabilities. Talking about the Adventure variant, it has a 349 cc engine, which gives power of 41.5 PS at 8,600 rpm and torque of 33.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm.
The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, with a slipper and assist clutch as standard. Talking about hardware, it has USD front forks and rear monoshock suspension, which gives suspension travel of 200 mm at the front and 205 mm at the rear. Apart from this, the wheelbase of 1,470 mm and ground clearance of 230 mm make it a powerful adventure bike.
The seat height of this bike is 830 mm and its curb weight is kept at 181 kg. The motorcycle rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels shod with 100/90 and 130/80 section tires respectively. For braking, it has a disc brake setup of 320 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear. Apart from this, TFT instrument console and alloy wheels are also provided in it. The 14.5 liter fuel tank further enhances its touring capability, while its power-to-weight ratio stands at 230 PS per tonne.
