4 new midsize SUVs will be launched in the Indian market in the next 3 months, which will give tough competition to Tata Sierra.
Bookings for the recently launched Tata Sierra have started and it will go on sale from January 15. The company received 70,000 bookings in the first 24 hours. At present, it is considered to be the most attractive SUV in its segment, but in the coming six months, four more new mid-size SUVs of the same segment are going to hit the showrooms.
On January 2, Kia will launch the all-new second generation Seltos in India. The company has started its production and plans to start delivery from mid-January. India will be the first global market of this model. The 2026 Kia Seltos is the largest SUV in the segment and its design is also quite spectacular.
Its length is 4,430 mm, width is 1,830 mm, height is 1,600 mm and wheelbase is 2,690 mm. Its interiors will be completely new, with a clean layout and physical buttons for all functions, which many rivals do not have. The new Seltos will come with 1.5-litre NA petrol, turbo petrol and turbo diesel engine options, with a choice of 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 7-speed DCT and 6-speed automatic gearbox.
French carmaker Renault will unveil the third generation Duster in India on January 26 and it is expected to be launched next month. It can be given 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo petrol engines. This model has already arrived in the international markets, but some special changes will be made in it for India. Recent teasers indicate that its DRL will have a different design and the taillamps will get horizontal extensions which will be connected to the brand logo on the tailgate. Apart from this, panoramic sunroof can also be provided for India.
Skoda will introduce the facelift version of its mid-size SUV Kushaq during January itself. The new Kushaq is expected to get a changed grille, new bumpers and lights along with new 17-inch alloy wheels. Unlike the existing model, it may also get a panoramic sunroof and new rear seats with segment-first massage function. Apart from this, changes can also be made in the instrument cluster and infotainment system.
Nissan will introduce its new Tekton SUV in February. Nissan Tecton will be based on CMF-B platform and will compete with Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Victoria, Tata Sierra etc. Apart from the body, its look will be quite different from Duster and it can get a glimpse of design from big SUVs like Nissan Patrol. There won’t be much difference between the two cars inside the cabin and the engine and gearbox options are also likely to be the same as the Duster.
