The first electric scooter based on Ather’s new EL platform will debut in India on August 29 and will be priced above Rs 1 lakh

Ather Energy will launch its first mass-market family electric scooter EL01 in the Indian market on August 29, 2026. This new scooter will be based on the company’s EL platform and its expected ex-showroom price can be between Rs 1.05 lakh to Rs 1.15 lakh. EL01 will be presented publicly for the first time at Ather Community Day 2026 to be held in Bengaluru.

The theme of this event has been kept “A New Dawn of Magic”, where the company will also showcase new concepts, technologies and EV platforms. Ather first showcased the EL platform and the EL01 prototype at the 2025 Community Day. According to the company, family scooters, maxi-scooters and high-performance electric scooters will also be launched on the same platform in future.

A few months ago, Ather Energy Chief Business Officer Ravneet Singh Phokela had confirmed that the EL01 will not be priced below Rs 1 lakh. However, its price will be kept lower than the company’s current models Rizta and 450 series. Currently, the starting price of Ather Rizta S is Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

In December 2025, Ather also filed a design patent for EL01. Patent images show that the scooter will get a 14-inch front wheel and 12-inch rear wheel. It will have a swingarm-mounted electric motor, large LED DRL, LED taillamp and the company’s first Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS).

For the convenience of customers, it will have an onboard charger named Ather Charge Drive Controller. The new scooter will run on AtherStack 7.0 software and will have voice command as a standard feature. The design patent also indicates that it will have a 7-inch TFT instrument display. A few months ago, this scooter was also seen for the first time during testing on Indian roads.

Talking about battery, Ather EL01 can be given 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh battery packs of Rizta. These batteries offer a range of 123 km and 159 km (IDC) respectively. Apart from this, the top speed of EL01 is expected to be 70-80 km/h and the speed of 0 to 40 km/h is expected to be achieved in 4-5 seconds.
