Kia’s second electric SUV Syros EV has been introduced in India and the company claims that it can run up to 526 km on a full charge.
Kia India has unveiled its second electric SUV Syros EV for the Indian market. Its pre-booking has started with a token amount of Rs 25,000. The company claims that the Syros EV is the first electric SUV in its segment, offering a driving range of 526 km (ARAI certified). Along with this, Kia has also introduced options like Lifetime High-Voltage Battery Warranty, Assured Buyback Program and Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS).
Kia Syros EV has been launched with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs. The model with 42 kWh battery offers an ARAI range of 443 km, while the 51.4 kWh battery pack offers a range of 526 km. Both the variants have an electric motor giving power of 171 PS and torque of 255 Nm. The model with the larger battery pack can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.1 seconds.
Talking about charging, with the help of 100 kW DC fast charger, the battery gets charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 39 minutes. Apart from this, it also has a 10.8 kW AC onboard charger. Kia has included many advanced EV features in the Syros EV. These include i-Pedal single-pedal driving, regenerative braking control via paddle shifters, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), battery heating, battery conditioning, digital key, Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS) and Shift-by-Wire gear selector. It has an IP67-rated Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery pack, which also has a liquid-cooled thermal management system.
To make charging easier, Kia has also introduced the K-Charge platform, which will work through the MyKia app. Through this, customers will be able to access more than 20,300 charging points and 23 charging network operators across the country. Kia has also rolled out DC fast chargers at over 129 dealerships and over 275 EV-ready workshops in India.
Design-wise, the Syros EV looks largely like the standard Syros, but with some EV-specific changes. It has Digital Tiger Face, vertically stacked LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, flush auto-deploying door handles, 17-inch dual-tone aerodynamic alloy wheels, new roof rails and updated rear LED tail lamps.
The cabin has a 30-inch panoramic display, which includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 5-inch climate control display. Apart from this, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, OTA updates, more than 95 connected features of Kia Connect 2.0, 8-speaker audio system from Harman Kardon and wireless phone charger are also available.
For the rear seat occupants, features like sliding and reclining 60:40 seats, front and rear ventilated seats, 4-way powered driver seat, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 64-color ambient lighting, dual-camera dashcam, rear sunshade, multiple USB Type-C ports and 16-litre front storage (frank) have been provided.
For safety, Syros EV has been provided with Level 2 ADAS along with 16 advanced driver assistance features. These include Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Driver Attention Warning and High Beam Assist. Apart from this, a total of 25 standard safety features like 360-degree camera, Blind View Monitor, Reverse Parking Collision Avoidance Assist, Front-Rear Parking Sensor, 6 Airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill Start Assist, Disc brakes on all four wheels, ISOFIX, TPMS and Electronic Parking Brake are also provided.
