Skoda Auto India has started bookings for the new Kodiaq RS. It is a sportier and more powerful version of the second generation Kodiaq SUV. Only 50 units will be available in the Indian market and customers can book it by paying a token amount of Rs 3 lakh. It is expected to be priced at more than Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom) at the time of launch.

The Skoda Kodiaq RS will be the company’s flagship SUV above the existing Laurin & Klement variant. The new Kodiaq RS has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine, which produces 265 hp power and 400 Nm torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and standard all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

According to the company, this SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds, while its top speed is limited to 231 km/h. For better driving experience, Kodiaq RS has adaptive chassis control, progressive steering and special suspension tuning. This SUV is based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB Evo platform and measures more than 4.75 meters in length.

Talking about the look, the Kodiaq RS has a black grille, new sporty bumper, many black finished exterior parts and RS badges, which make it more sporty and attractive than the regular Kodiaq. Apart from this, 20-inch alloy wheels and red colored brake callipers are also available in the SUV. At the rear, a full-width light bar, RS badging and a new bumper design differentiate it from the regular Kodiaq. Customers can book it in Steel Grey, Velvet Red, Magic Black and Moon White colors.

The cabin comes with sports seats with integrated headrests, RS-specific upholstery, contrast stitching and special trim inserts. The 3-row seating layout has been retained in it. The features list includes a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charging and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

For safety, it is expected to get multiple airbags, electronic stability control, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera and ADAS features. The new Kodiaq RS will be one of Skoda’s most advanced SUVs ever in terms of technology, safety and performance.
